Not The Full Shilling!

The title of this small piece is a reference to one of many such phrases, A few short of a 6 pack etc. I refer to myself. This morning I got an e mail from a very nice lady who wanted to become friends. I happily agreed and wrote a friendly note thanking her for her interest. She replied that she had enjoyed my "Rants" and being somewhat mystified I felt it necessary to see what rants she was reading.

Doh! little did I realise that every time I went off on one, it popped up here as well as anywhere else I posted it. DUMBO is alive and well and sweating it out in the High Desert!

Actually, some of the pieces are really quite good and I was agreeably surprised. I never usually revisit them rather like an actor not watching his movies. I would only criticize and feel depressed at the lack of grammar. So I am indebted to Monica for her comments and will be more careful in future about my ranting..........another lie! I will go on kicking until the end. "Do not go quiet into that dark night" etc.

I could do a piece today about Magazine Publishers who write to you with threats and promises in reference to your subscriptions to their publications only for you to discover there is no urgency to renew as the sub does not run out until 6 months hence! Consumer Reports are especially good at this. However, instead I wish to extend my sympathy to my old pals in the UK, not because of the rioting and looting of the past week. but because of all the crap they will now hear on the BBC about the causes and the underlying causes and the underlying, underlying causes. Some of which claptrap I saw on our weekly look at Newsnight. What utter crap. Poor kids in England, no parents to care for them and on and on. Funny thing, Scotland, Wales and my own homeland of Northern Ireland are similarly deprived but only the English took to the streets. Over this side of the pond we might be influenced by the phrase "Got Milk"? In London it seems it might now be "Got Samsung? Got Sony?" Oh and did you notice they hit upmarket places first? Sort of like us going out to riot and loot here and starting on ..........say Rodeo Drive or The Grove etc.

Lastly sympathy too goes to the UK for a reduction in the price of Gasoline going into effect at all Tesco Forecourts tomorrow (Tesco - like Walmart but with Customer Service) Yes I said reduction. That means that a Liter of Regular will now be around 136.1 pence or 6.19 pounds per gallon and that dear friends is $10.02 per gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
